Summit County Cares Food Drive & Fundraiser – May 1-31, 2010


Help Stop Hunger in Summit County

Food bank demands are up 40% year-over-year in 2010 on top of the 150% increase in 2009.

Family & Intercultural Resource Center’s (FIRC) Food Bank is giving out 2,000 lbs. of food per month.

May is a critical month for residents as they transition through seasonal jobs.

Goal is to stock the area food banks with enough food to last through the off-season by collecting 7,000 pounds of food

Financial donations can be used to buy food in bulk

Summit County Cares Purpose

Summit County Cares is a connection of non profit service organizations offering Emergency and Basic Needs Assistance to residents.

Food and funding benefit Family & Intercultural Resource Center, Summit Community Care Clinic, Advocates for Victims of Assault and Summit County Health & Human Services.

How the program will work:

A food bin will be provided to participating businesses April 30-May 31

Pick-up will occur twice a week or upon request based on the volume

Signage will be provided

Benefits to Sponsors

Show you care by helping the community, customers and employees who can’t put food on their table without donations

Donation Information:

Posters on the bins explain the non perishable items needed
