Congratulations to our 2014 winners!  Penny Banks, Michael Nowotny and Joe Natale adopted the three swiftest ducks and each won a week vacation courtesy of Interval International.  In the business race, Stork & Bear Co., Inc.’s duck made it the finish gate first winning the business a snowcat tour with Ski Cooper.  In the Kids Duck Dash, Tom Macleish is the winner of a week vacation for his family thanks again to Interval International.  In the Business Battle Decorated Duck contest, our expert panel of judges selected “Horton Hears A Quack!” (created by Breckenridge Grand Vacations Owner Relations Department) as the most creative duck.  They were awarded a Glass Fusing Workshop for 8 from Ready Paint Fire. Honorable mention should be made to FirstBank’s duck replicated from Frozen and to Summit Soap Company’s “save water, shower with a friend” duck for their 2nd and 3rd place decorated ducks.

About the 2014 Duck Race

We are happy to be celebrating 27 years of rubber duck racing! Join us and thousands of spectators on Saturday, August 30 near the Blue River in Breckenridge to enjoy this cornerstone event sponsored by Breckenridge Grand Vacations.  Family activities begin at 11 a.m. for an entire day of fun!

The Hudson Auto Source Kids Duck Dash will kick-off the three duck races at 1 p.m., as 750 ducks are dropped from the Adams Street Bridge into the Blue River. More than 40 prizes for the kids race are being donated by Peak-A-Boo Toys, Vail Resorts Echo, and other businesses.

The second of the three races begins at 2 p.m. from Main Street Station. FirstBank of Summit County is sponsoring this Business Battle Duck Race, where little yellow swimmers purchased by local organizations and businesses, will compete for a private group snow cat experience on Chicago Ridge, among other group-oriented prizes.

And finally at 3 p.m., the Breckenridge Grand Vacations Great Rubber Duck Race will send nearly 10,000 little quackers from Main Street Station streaming for the finish line at the Riverwalk Center. Fabulous prizes will be awarded to a minimum of the top 50 ducks, including a week-long vacation at a destination chosen by the winner.

Adopt your ducks online at or at various locations around Summit County beginning the first week of August. Thousands of dollars worth of prizes will be awarded ….even a prize for the slowest duck.

This event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, board members, staff, and of course all of our duck participants. Thank you to our River Spot Sponsors: Climax Molybdenum, PeakOne Surgery Center, Vail Resorts,  Vail-Summit Orthopaedics and Whole Foods Market.

Help us make this a race to remember by signing up to sponsor, volunteer or donate a prize. Call 970.453.5970 or email Elisabeth.
