More Than Money: Passing on the Wealth of your Life
Peaks Society Workshop scheduled for Tuesday August 16, 2016 in Breckenridge

Your legal will protects and transmits the material assets you have built over the course of your life. Yet chances are, what is most valuable to you transcends financial wealth.

Join author Susan Turnbull the morning of Tuesday August 16 at Beaver Run Resort for an insightful workshop exploring the venerable instrument of the ethical will. Learn about the wisdom it brings to legacy planning, and start to write your own, as part of your own process of creating a legacy plan that authentically reflects your unique history, values and vision for making a positive difference.

What is an ethical will?

It is a non-binding letter or recording created for your loved ones, successors or trustees. Though often shared during life, an ethical will is created with the intention of lasting beyond your lifetime for the purpose of passing on values, wisdom, stories, feelings, advice, or important information.

Ethical wills have ancient roots, first seen in the Jewish tradition 800 years ago when fathers began to write their sons parting letters or wisdom and advice.  As a modern instrument, they create the opportunity for personal reflection and serve as a non-binding vehicle for personal “voice,” otherwise missing in the legal documents.

The workshop: energizing and interactive workshop in which you will

  • Reflect upon the values that have shaped your life
  • Consider your vision for creating a positive impact inside and outside your family
  • Consider and get started on your own ethical will to children or grandchildren, successors or trustees
