The Summit Foundation re-welcomes Wanda Creen to the staff
A Massachusetts native, Wanda was born into a military family. The family moved every three years which instilled a love of travel in her. Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Wanda moved to New York City where she lived and worked for eight years. In 1988, friends told her of their plans to go to Colorado and work a season at a ski resort. Her love of travel kicked in -making the decision to join the group simple. They landed in Breckenridge and Wanda began working at the Breckenridge Ski Resort (BSR) in their daycare facility with additional jobs to include restaurant and retail work. As luck would have it, she met Chuck Creen while taking a ski lesson and they’ve been together ever since.
In 1990, Wanda began working in the Breckenridge Ski Resort Administration Department. When Ralston Resorts, owner of Keystone Resort, bought BSR she was offered a position in the Legal Department at Keystone. In 1995, her daughter Sierra was born and in an effort to keep the family on one side of the county, Wanda applied for her first position with The Summit Foundation which she held for two years in 1996 and 1997. The position reinforced a love of volunteerism which began during her public school years as a Girl Scout and continued throughout her years in New York and in Breckenridge as a volunteer for Backstage Theatre and Breckenridge Festival of Film. Their sons Thomas and Brennan were born in 2000 which has kept Wanda very busy and encourages further volunteerism as a parent volunteer in the school system and within the various sports programs Sierra, Thomas and Brennan are fortunate to participate in.
Before coming to The Summit Foundation for her current position as Administrative Assistant and Office Manager, Wanda was employed at the Town of Breckenridge. She and her family live in Blue River and enjoy taking trips together, camping and spending time on a river fishing or just enjoying the scenery. Theatre continues to be a love and she participates when time allows. Wanda is very excited to once again be working for The Summit Foundation and looks forward to contributing to all the great work the organization does for Summit County and surrounding communities.
